Yummy Food

Sake Sushi
He and I went to The Curve a few weeks ago and I decided that we should try something new for dinner. I always loved sushi and japanese food. Well of course it tastes wonderful but I always suspect that it’s because it’s just so easy to eat them. :D Anyway, we decided to try Sakae Sushi as it’s been quite a long time I had japanese food & the restaurant looks interesting.

Soft Shell Crab
So we went in and have a look at the menu, the food really looks delicious. The waitress told us that we can browse the online menu and order food from the computer terminal, quite cool eh. ;) We ordered green tea & some premium sushi. The green tea is in tea bag form, unlike Genki Sushi’s , it actually taste fine. We tried the sushi & decided that that’s not enough, so I browsed for more food and ordered somemore. The sushi plates’ price range from RM1.99 & above. They are a few types of sushi that are priced at RM1.99 including salmon sushi. And that’s really cheap if you ask me. Then there’s this Soft Shell Crab that tastes delicious, we tried potato salad & it’s not bad too. I ordered some salmon & salmon skin dishes and he asked for garlic fried rice. The salmon was good and he decided that the fried rice could have been the best he tasted so far. :) If I’m not mistaken, I think sakae means salmon, maybe that’s the reason why there’re so many nicely priced salmon dishes. By the way, from their website, I’m guessing this restaurant started in Singapore. Anyway I had a really good time at that place & we think we’ll go there again next time.

Went to The Curve again next weekend after that and tried another restaurant called Winter Warmers. Heard that they have outlets in Penang, but it’s been such a long time since I got back that I have no idea there’s one there. :( Might as well give it a try then. The deco looks victorian, that’s for sure, with all the cupboards & china ware. And they keep playing the same quite-ok-musical-tune over & over again. Luckily the song isn’t annoying tho. We ordered a set that includes Chicken Waffle, a pot of ceylon tea & deserts and iced vanilla blend. Both the drinks were great, the vanilla tasted wonderful & not like vanilla milk shake. The waffle din taste funny as I thought it would, there were minced chicken meat, mini cucumber cubes and tomato sauce. The waffle is really different from those we usually eat.

So that’s the dining experience that I had in The Curve, looking forward for more there & elsewhere. :)

Watching Premieres

Just watched CSI & Desperate Housewives. Can’t find a place o download Grey’s Anatomy yet tho. CSI’s first episode is not bad but not that special considering it’s opening episode for new season. Still the usual solving 2 cases at the same time & not a big case in one episode. Desperate Housewives is more interesting coz they take off from the ending in season 1 where many questions were left unanswered. Who is Gabrielle’s child’s father, John or Carlos? Did Lynette finally get a job & can her husband really handle 4 kids? Can Susan finally move in with Mike? How is Bree going to deal with her husband’s death? And who’s that new neighbor? Most questions will be answered in that episode :)

Lost Taken
Downloading Lost season 2 now. They have a lot of answering to do too. But i suspect they wouldn’t just give away the answers so easily. Hopefully they give good answers & not some crappy laughable theory. I watched Taken too when I’m in Mildura. They actually show quite updated stuff in normal TV, not cable or satelite ones. But Taken is not that good and that’s prolly the reason it’s not popular.

Arrested Development
Of course we shouldn’t forget about Arrested Development. Actually discovered this from Astro, would you believe that. It wasn’t aired in Australia tho, guessed it’s a bit too weird for their taste. It actually started in 2003, funny thing is I never heard of it before. As in I duno anybody that watched this series. It’s really funny & so weird that you know have to follow & watch each episode in sequence. Too bad I can’t find a website to download it too. Any friends out there that has sites to download Arrested Development & Grey’s Anatomy, please let me know. Appreciate it :)

By the way, the aus channels that I was always talking about are Channel 7 and Channel 9. Will update regarding what I watch there in some other posts. You can easily find out what aussies are watching by visiting the website as well. Not that different from what we watch, just slightly more updated. :P But I think Astro may beat them in some series, coz those channels are free anyways.

Well there’s some important good news, he told me that he booked my flights to Houston this friday, changed the route to LA then Houston instead of going to Narita. Not bad, but still have to wait for his company to give confirmation tonight. :P

Entertainment Scene

CSI
On to entertainment, first on TV Shows. We’ll be seeing many TV Series premiering in American channels this month. My favourite tv show, also highest rating in usa, CSI has aired it’s first episode for season 6. Tried to download it multiple times with no luck. Can’t connect to tracker. Duno when it’ll work. Just tried again now and it worked, just finished downloading. Will watch it later. ;)

Greys Anatomy
Next TV Show that has premiered which I like as well is Grey’s Anatomy. Watched the intro video for the first eipisode, meredith found out that derek is actually married. That’s bad considering the pilot started off with them waking up after sleeping with each other. And Cristina found out that she’s pregnant. We’ll know more once I watch the opening season episode. :)

Desperate Housewives
Another TV Show that is premiering or has premiered is Desperate Housewives. The have episode previews and quiz to see which housewife are you as well. Doubt any of you will be interested in that quiz coz it’s for housewives (doh).

The Forgotten FlightPlan
On to movies, wacthed a few trailers. interesting ones include Corpse Bride, FlightPlan and Aeon Flux looks ok too. FlightPlan’s story line is similiar to Julianne Moore’s The Forgotten, only it happened in the plane. I’m thinking their ending would be better tho. That remains to be seen. Quite a lot of movies coming up as usual, but din see any that is bound to be a box office hit.

First Post

First of all, Welcome to my blog. As some of you might already know, I have been resting in my home in Australia after I graduated. During that period of time, I tried to look for job both in Mildura & Melbourne. As Mildura is a small town that produces fruits & wine, most jobs available there are farm work. There are no IT related jobs and very few computer hardware stores. There is one major computer store called Harvey Norman but they are not hiring either. There is also one computer training centre that seems quite impressed with my resume but suggested that I try looking in Melbourne instead.

Anyway, after I got my PR visa number, I applied for Newstart Allowance under Centrelink. This allowance is only available to Permenant Residents so I make sure that I make good use of it. After a simple interview with Centrelink, they decided to give me AUD400 fortnightly. Not bad at all, isn’t it. All I have to do is proof that I look for work at 7 companies every 2 weeks. That’s easy, since calling them to ask whether there are vacancies or not also can be counted. They also made a compulsory appointment for me with MADEC, to help me write my resume. The girl that is suppose to help me write my resume is so happy when she saw that I have prepared it earlier. So I said that I’ll email it to her when I reach home. Then she started to help me key in my details in JobSearch.

But as weeks go by, there are still no jobs referred to me. As for Melbourne, applying for it is much harder as they prefer hiring australian university graduates. Most MNCs had already interviewed the graduates they need for the 2006 intake. Needless to say, I have been getting AUD800 monthly by emailing resumes for a few hours weekly. :D
