Jack in The Box

Went to Wings Over Houston Airshow last sunday. Firstly, we have to go through security check before they can scan our e-ticket & let us in. I have no problem but he can’t get through coz backpacks are not allowed no matter what’s in it. At first it was quite a problem as we duno where we can leave his bag at so I suggested for him to change it to sling bag & wear it like that. Luckily, in the end the guard let him passed after all. As are everything in Texas, there are in huge amounts. There were many people, planes, hot dog stands & souvenier shops in the airshow. I bought an official airshow t-shirt & a military dog tag. Had fun ;) Before we went back, we had Jack In The Box for dinner.

His Fried Rice at Van Loc

My Dinner at Van Loc

Haagen Dazs

For Monday, we ordered delivery from Sicily’s again, this time it’s BBQ wings & ham sub. The wings is tender this time but don’t like the sauce, the sub is tasty. Chris suggested a vietnamese restaurant on tuesday called Van Loc. The food was ok, Mo Mong was much better. Went to Randall’s after that & bought some groceries, uncluding Haagen Dazs Chocolate ice cream. :) The next day, we went to Bombay Garden as we wana try indian food. I had Tandoori Chicken, nothing special about that either.

Mo Mong & Downtown Aquarium

Mo Mong Restaurant

Fried Rice (the restaurant lights are dim)

Red Curry Shrimp

Hollywood Video

Last friday night, we decided to have chinese food around our place. Called a cab and the taxi driver suggested Mo Mong Restaurant at Montrose. When we walked in the place, I can smell the great aroma coming out from the kitchen. Finally something asian, the food should be good. :) The menu has a variety of asian food including Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai & Malaysian. We ordered Spring Roll for apetizers, I ordered Red Curry Shrimp & he ordered Fried Rice while Sageetha ordered Curry Chicken Rice. The spring roll is not good as it is steamed and not fried. However, the shrimp & fried rice is very delicious. I enjoyed that meal very much. :D There’s many shops & restaurants at Montrose. Right beside Mo Mong is Hollywood Video, they sell & rent out DVD, VHS & video games. Quite a lot of titles & varieties there. They only sell video games & not pc games tho. After a while, our taxi came & we went back.

Houston Visitor Centre

Bayou City Art Festival

Theater District

On Saturday morning, we went to Houston Visitor Centre. We found out that Bayou City Art Festival is on that day. We went pass the festival as it is not opened yet & went to the visitor centre. There are many flyers & booklets of tourist attractions & souveniers in the centre. We found a great savings book for houston attractions, would be useful later. After we’re done, the art festival is opened, we had a quick look & went out. We walked around the theater district, saw the Houston Symphony & Houston Ballet. Nice places. ;)

Downtown Aquarium

Outside Downtown Aquarium

White Tiger

Aquarium Restaurant

Fried Calamari

Marlin fish

Rides outside aquarium

Dippin’ Dots

Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream

After that, we went to Downtown Aquarium. The usual fish & sea life, quite fun. At last we saw 2 beautiful white tigers of the maharaja temple, really stunning. Got hungry & took our lunch at Aquarium Restaurant. We just got a coupon from the savings book just now, free apetizers with main entree. How nice is that? :) We ordered Marlin fish which is the main entree of the day & had fried calamari for free. Really yummy… Had Raspberry Quince from The Republic of Tea for drinks. We couldn’t finish the meal so we had the rest packed. There are some rides outside the aquarium. Saw Dippin’ Dots ice cream & bought one to try. Quite interesting.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

Abercrombie & Fitch

Saks Fifth Avenue

Nordstrom

Dinner

Then we took a cab to Galleria, shopped around a few shops. Saw this cute candy shop called Dylan’s Candy Bar, went to a few departmental stores but the prices are just too expensive. Managed to buy a baby-t from Abercrombie & Fitch and a boho dress from Wet Seal. Went to Gap & Express, they were on a huge sale but I din really saw something I like so din buy anything from them. Very tired at the end of the day, so we bought dinner from a chinese stall at ground floor of galleria & went back home.

Hark Rock Cafe

Sicily
Got Sicily’s pizza & pasta food delivery brochure a few days ago. Was too tired to go out to have dinner 2 days ago, so we call up their number. Ordered a American pizza & a dozen wings. The pizza is quite nice, it tastes like italian pizza thus is not that cheesy & filling. The wings is not that nice in my opinion coz it’s not tender & heated, he enjoyed it tho & said that he might order it again. If we order it again, I’ll try their subs or pasta.

Hard Rock Cafe
Hard Rock Cafe, Houston

Our Food

Wil & I @ HRC Houston

LA Mafia
LA Mafia @ HRC

Bayou Place

Went to Hard Rock Cafe, Houston yesterday night. There’s this real size car in the middle of the bar and as usual there’s TV tuning to sports channel. A HRC souveneir shop is located at the left loaded with HRC T-shirts, caps, shot glasses & keychains. We ordered Hickory BBQ Chicken & Savoury mashed potatoes. Jun haan had mac & cheese, chris had veggie burger while kelvin had a burger as well. The BBQ chicken is good, luckily we din order 2 sets as they gave half portion instead of quarter portion of the chicken. The potatoes was not as nice tho. Din order drinks coz the bill is getting quite expensive. ;) Bought a keychain from HRC Houston as souvenier while chris bought a shot glass.

Randalls

Starbucks Frappuccino

After that, we went to Randall’s to get some groceries & drinks. William bought Starbucks Frap while I bought Garnier Fructis Fortifiying 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner. :P Bought a few more groceries & headed back to our apartment. Enjoyed dinner & the company. :)

Taco & Fish

Dillards at Houston
Dillards at Houston

Finally, I got the chance to go shopping 2 days ago at Dillards & Galleria Houston. We went to Dillards first as Sageetha’s sister suggests that maybe she could buy a blazer there. The place is something like Parkson and the brands are really expensive. They sell seriously nice evening dress at around USD80. There’s quite a number of designer brands sold there too. We went shopping for clothes & I had a look at the shoes. Quite nice but decided not to buy anything until I had a look at Galleria’s prices.

Shopping at Galleria
Shopping at Galleria

Galleria Interior

Since we think that the price is slightly too high, we went to Galleria. It’s a nice big mall that has many shops & a few departmental stores including Foley’s, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus & Saks Fifth Avenue. We walked around for a while to check out what’s there & found the directory. William decided to wait for us at fye while we go to New York & company. Turns out that these 2 shops is farthest away from each other. On my way there, I saw that Gap & Express are having 50% sale. But we were in a rush so we went directly to NY & co. That boutique sells office clothes so Sageetha tried out a few blazers while I browse for some tops. After half an hour, Sageetha decided to buy the blazer & I tried a few tops but they were all too big so I end up not buying anything. :(

Houston city at night

Taco Bell set that we ordered

Meet up with him & had dinner. I never tried Taco Bell before and there’s none in aus, so I suggested that for dinner. Saw the Chili’s bar around there as well. Over here, it looks like a regular place just like Taco Bell & Subway whereas in Malaysia, it would have been a place for special occasions. We ordered a set that consists of 2 chicken supreme gorditas & one beef taco with a Coke. Costs around USD6. Quite ok for me. He din like the taco coz it was beef. We both decided that we had enough of Taco Bell already. I think kebab taste much better. I liked the taco skin tho, just like nacho chips. Took a nice photo of Houston city at night too.

City of Houston Storm

The Leasing Office

Oakwood

Oak Court

Archstone Midtown

Took some photos of Oakwood & Oak Court yesterday evening. Noticed that the road signs looks similiar to australia’s.

The Fish

Chicken Udon

Chicken Teriyaki with Wild Rice

Went to The Fish for dinner yesterday. Jun haan recommended it. Quite a nice place. Quite a variety of food there. Sushi is not the main dish over there tho, it’s those restaurants that serve entrees, main course & desserts. Had some green tea for drinks. We ordered fried Lobster rolls for appetizers. The fillings are great & tasted sweet. For main course, I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with Wild Rice while he ordered Chicken Udon. Enjoyed the teriyaki, the udon was quite ok. That meals costs us around USD15 each including tips. Quite a good meal indeed. :)

of Buffalo Wings & Oakwood

Yep, the apartment that I’m staying in Houston is called Archstone Midtown. It’s an Oakwood Corporate Housing which is located at 10 Oak Court, Houston, Texas. It’s suppose to be a “home away from home”. :)

the kitchen

entertainment centre :P

living room

Quite a nice place, really. It has all the basic rooms of an apartment & has almost all the features that you would need. Our apartment is located on the 3rd floor & it has no elevator, but it’s actually a big blessing in disguise as we can get online. Whereas his collegue who is staying at the ground floor can’t detect any unsecured wireless network. The kitchen is spacious & complete with everything from pots & pans to cutleries. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, soap & a few more products from Neutrogena. And the apartment even comes with a washing machine & dryer! That’s just wonderful as you don’t have to worry about hanging your clothes to dry at the balcony, haha. Haven’t got a chance to try out the Community Amenities yet tho.

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar

Refillable Coke

Sports Bar

parking outside

Had a very filing dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar at Gray Street yesterday. Ordered Jerk Chicken Sandwich, a lil bit too pepperish & burnt for my taste, but the mayonese made it better. Had some carribean jerk sauce chicken wings & a big cup of Coke as well. The sauce for the wings is quite nice & not hot, but the chicken isn’t served warm so it didn’t taste as good. The place is more of a sports bar, very noisy, yet there are families dining there as well. There are many TVs in every direction possible, tuning in to different sports channels, quite interesting. USA’s ESPN is mostly about football, basketball and baseball. Never really watch those ;) but still had a great time there & the food is relatively cheap too, around USD6. Looking forward to more dining experience to come. :)
