Battleship Texas & Moody Gardens

Back Log Entry 3 - Went to San Jacinto Battleground to see Battleship Texas and San Jacinto Musuem. We’re lucky enough to get a free guide to show us around the battleship. In there, we’ve seen how the people lived, we see sections in the ship such as kitchen, clinic, officer’s room & dining room. The living space for the officers & the people working under are certainly very different. We get to see the weapons that were on the ship as well.

After that, we went to Aquarium Piramid in Moody Gardens. There was this large tank that has seals & sea lions in it, really huge creatures that enjoys attention. Then there’s the penguins, just hanging out or flapping their flippers to cool down temselves. There are a few attention seeking penguins that swim to our direction when they saw us. There are many other sea creatures such as star fish & crabs as well. Quite a nice place to visit.

Went to Farrago’s for one last time before leaving Houston, gotta eat White Chocolate Bread Pudding w/ Golden Raisins and Jack Daniels Creme Anglaise, possibly the best desert in the world. The white chocolate doesn’t taste too sweet & the Jack Daniels adds a perfect touch. Yummy :D

William’s friends decided to have dinner with all of us at Texas Land & Cattle Steak House as farewell dinner. We had yummy back ribs for dinner & pecan chocolate ice cream for dessert. We had a great time there. And there’s this interesting place called Tony Mandola’s Gulf Coast Kitchen which we had a great seafood dinner at. They have a waiter that only serves black pepper, so when your dish is served, he’ll walk to your table & asks you whether you want black pepper and that’s all he does. They have another guy for cheese as well. Talk about good service. :P

Kemah Boardwalk, Disney on Ice & Houston Zoo

Back Log Entry 2 - Have been in Houston for quite a while, suddenly had a craving for some Malaysian food. A friend suggested Cafe Malay & we went there. It’s got to be the closest thing to Malaysian restaurant in Houston! We’ve had chili crab, curry chicken, Steam chicken rice & all those food that makes Malaysia special. Had Ais Kacang for desert, how cool is that! Haha :)

Went to Kemah Boarwalk again for the great seafood! This time we went to Babin’s Seafood House. It was recommended by a Texan, so we give it a try & it was worth it. The crawfish bisque that we ordered for appetiser was so good. After that, we went to the Stringray Reef & feed some hungry stringrays. These guys are always hungry & they’ll come up from the water as much as they can to reach for the food :P

Went to Reliant Stadium, but not for Sports events or any kind of championship. It’s for Disney on Ice! :D Watched the Princess Classics, the usual Mickey & Minnie and their friends as well as all the princesses in Disney Animation. Quite fun, too bad there aren’t any other characters outside from princess classics.

Houston Zoo was pretty fun. They have many animal shows there including shows of birds & seals. Seen a Llama there too, looks funny. After that we went to Hermann Park & took some photos, great scenery over there. There’s a pretty Japanese Garden within, which looks really good even in winter and there’s the famous Sam Houston statue as well. We went to Hong Kong City Mall too, but it was disappointing, not worth the visit. The only special thing is we manage to find food such as IndoMie & 3 in 1 coffee there. These might be plain in Malaysia but you can’t get it anywhere else in Houston.

These are some of the photos I took during this journey and the album is available here.

Houston Musuem & Nasa Space Center

Back Log Entry 1 - I know it’s been a long time since I blogged about my small adventures in Houston, I’ve gotten lazy half way & decided to watch more TV instead, haha. So here I am blogging some old entries that I should have posted a month ago.

I’ve gone to TUTS - Theatre Under The Stars, Houston, Texas to watch Broadway Theater titled Chicago. It was really nice, for those that want to know more, you can try to download the Chicage movie, it’s just as good. Before we went to watch, we went to Artista to have a great dinner first. It’s the most expensive place I’ve ever been to, fine dining, everyone dressing up so nicely, piano music, great food. Anyway, we ordered crab for appetiser & grilled ahi tuna for dinner, yummy! Had their famous desert too ;)

The Next day, we went to Nasa Johnson Space Center. There’s quite a lot of things to experiment, learn & experience there. They had demonstrations of how astronauts live in space, their plans of going to Mars, the science behind the shuttle, and much more. Bought a few souveniers there then we went to Joe’s Crab Shack at Kemah Boardwalk for dinner.

On Sunday, we went to The Houston Museum of Natural Science. There are dinosaurs, fossils & a lot of information about different kinds of energy & how it is generated. Quite a tiring weekend and we ended it by having Fried Alligator from Pappadeaux as appetiser for dinner! :)
